The motor is 6 strands of 1/16 inch, braided, which is strong for this size plane and good for a 6 inch propellor. 500 turns gives maybe 12 seconds of power, which is a lot when you are risking potentially a fantastic crash.

I put a little varnish in the socket for strength, and I glued paper to the top of the gear so the wood doesn't split when using. I also stick the gear in the whole with some glue stick glue, which still allows it to be removed later.
