EvanJ | 27-Dec-08 08:24 | I would like everybody's opinion: Can I use Elmer's wood glue instead of CA? Are there some places where I need CA? I would like to stay non-toxic if possible. |
John M Oshust | 27-Dec-08 10:14 | Evan....I use Elmer's |
Xanadu | 27-Dec-08 11:18 | Elmers wood glue works very well, but there may be a few spots you would prefer to use CA.
I use it lots just to tack, along with the wood glue.
Look over your build manual for instances where it mentions using thin CA to wick in. Especially on the wing sheeting.
Some kits wee designed with CA in mind but you can adapt.
But you can always still use the wood glue, just takes longer to set.
If you worried about odor, Bob Smith Ind. sells a odorless version, works very well. |
EvanJ | 27-Dec-08 15:09 | I think I'll use Elmer's wood glue wherever possible. I have some CA for where it's required. |
bbaumer | 28-Dec-08 08:28 | If you're intending on flying it, I'd at least go to a carpenters glue, rather than plain white elmer's. |
mdmorgan37 | 28-Dec-08 17:00 | when you that manual that come with that kit, it say that you should use 3 differnt types of CA, thin med. an thick
, that if you inten to fly it,i have heard of people useung an mixture of the two |
