biplane guy | 27-Apr-16 15:55 | A closer look at a picture of my target aircraft revealed that the instrument panel was not silver (duh, glare problem for pilot) but a flat white. It was also three dimensional, hinged at the bottom to allow access to the gauge wiring. I'm thinking a scored piece of wire glued to the bottom of the center piece might simulate the piano hinge. |

Skyediamonds1985 | 27-Apr-16 21:51 | Loved the panels. I can see you've done your homework. I can see the red line of the RPM gauge pegged at 2100. Great job!! For some reason, only the -17 had the RPM gauge running counter-clockwise. My guess is you're replicating these panels of the biplane near you? I'm only asking because the original biplanes had flat black panels. Modern panels were updated white. A special "thanks" for showing a close up of the flat cable rigging on the Waco. I actually contemplated on splitting the cable rods used to keep them from "singing" in the wind, but at 1/12th scale, I was splitting hairs. Decided to just lay them down at the intersection where the rigging between the flying and landing wires crossed over. But don't tell anyone! |
biplane guy | 28-Apr-16 09:17 | The pictures I took of the N2S at the Carolinas Aviation Museum in Charlotte, NC, had to be taken from behind the barriers so some details like the actual gauges I used are based on a pic I found online with the same arrangement of the gauges (on a black panel) in a similar N2S. You realize of course that my original plans for the rigging have now gone out the window. Ya'll are a bad influence! |
