I'll trade an unused part of my anatomy for a jar of Micro-Fill. If you have two jars, you can have both of them.
John M Oshust18-May-08 12:54
DD...Is there a micro-fill shortage? I have two jars.
David Duckett18-May-08 13:54
Yes!!! Please send them as soon as possible and I'll send you .... well, be kind. In return, I'll offer you my piety...Oh wait, that's from "Amadeus". Micro-Fill is not being made right now because of some complaints about it. To me, it's the best thing I've found to make the very smooth transitions needed on these kits and I feel absolutely lost without it. The majority of the construction so far has been filled in with the Hobbylite and that works well but Micro-fill gives me the ability to smooth out the outer surfaces and make everything cohesive because it adheres to, and fills in, these areas better. Any help will be greatly appreciated and generous remuneration promptly posted.

Since I am using Elmer's and will not need my stash of micro-fill, I will post my supply to thee on Monday....I want the cat!

Sounds like John O has you covered for the next plane and a half. I'll check my LHS for stock next time I'm there.
David Duckett18-May-08 15:00
Thanks, John. I shall be forever indebted to you for your generosity and kindness but you simply can't have either of the cats. I would rather give up one of my "huevos". Actually, two cans of Micro-Fill will last a lot longer than two models but I'll still hoard all I can get.
John M Oshust18-May-08 15:02
You can keep the cat. I checked the supply depot. I had ordered 2 jars from Tower Hobbies. They were back ordered for a month so I cancelled. I have half a jar. I suspect that the filler is diatomaceous earth, skeletal remains of glass sea critters. The dust is hell on the lungs! The half jar is yours' let me know.
David Duckett18-May-08 15:07
I'll take it! And all others I can get.
SteveM18-May-08 15:48
I have a jar of balsa colored NHP Micro-Fill that is nearly full and can be sent to you as I don't see me getting around to using it any time soon as I have my plate full with flying planes. And if I stop reading VA and get my work done I can leave here and get to the LHS before they close.
John M Oshust18-May-08 16:14
DD, Done I shall send it along with my cat....he likes to eat balsa and will love living with you...his name is Misty!
SteveM18-May-08 19:32
No luck at my LHS. The owner told me there was little difference between Micro-Fill and the Hobbylite but I assured him I was shopping for a very discerning person. I'll still mail you what I have and keep my eyes open for other sources.

I've got a half jar of Hobby Lite, that you're welcome to David. If it'll do you any good, it's yours.
David Duckett18-May-08 23:07
Thanks SW but I have plenty of Hobbilite. And thanks Steve for checking. There is a lot of difference in the two products and I use both of them. I also have a can of another filler, Model Mate, on the way but I don't know how it will compare so I still want to stock up on Micro Fill.

Hi David, is there any special technique you use to join plastic parts together that don't have guide pins like plastic models? And also, can you fill them with micro filler or spackling to make joining together easier, and is white glue used to join them together rather than CA or plastic glue?
David Duckett08-Mar-12 11:04
Technique will have to wait until I return from a doctor appointment. Yes, you can fill them with filler. I don't know if white glue will work.
