Then I ran out of balsa. sweetwillie 22-Apr-08 17:28 The balsa that came with the kit was very good, but, I ran out since I'm adding extra stringers to cover it with 1/32 balsa, so I cut stringers from balsa that I had bought from Tower Hobbies, and it's so soft and flexible, that every time I would add a stringer, I would, eventually, break one of them. Just the weight of my pinkie finger would break it. It's very soft, and it caused me to have to repair at least half of them. RodN 23-Apr-08 18:12 Keep it going SW. SteveM 26-Apr-08 12:49 I bought some of the Tower Hobbies balsa too and found most of the sheets have one side that is soft and one that is hard. I'll usually cut the whole sheet into stringers and separate the soft from the hard ones. But then if the whole sheet is soft you are out of luck there. Stringers are a good place to use the heavier/hard wood as I too put my fingers through them all the time. Please sign in to comment on this image.
