Canopy masked. I really like the yellow and see it on Japanese aircraft, as well. What is it?

Other than it's for 'identification', I'm not sure. Apparently there was an anti-icing paste that had to be applied in some weather, but that was darker than the bright yellow we paint on our models. I bet somebody on here has more info (Dad?!) Source.

ID markings. Head on these looked like BF-109's. Almost all single engined Brit planes in European theater had these. Some Japanese aircraft also for same purpose.

The yellow stripe appeared on RAF fighters in 1941 and was to help pilots spot friendly aircraft with just a brief glance in their mirror. What a great model this is :-)
