Holy smokes! Super model. Is that PPG polyurethane?

Base, clear?

All I use for paint is cheap inexpensive acrylics ($0.99-2.99). After laying down the color, I apply a coat of clear.

Well it sure looks great!

What a super looking model. It looks like plastic. Perfect coverings and finish.

I do so love waking up to a brand new model here and it's especially nice when one is as well done and good looking as this one is. Outstanding!

Super job! It is great to see all of these Cherokees on here!

Thanks guys! The paint scheme comes from two real Cherokee's that I seen on the internet, so I merged the two ideas and this is what I came up with.

The paint scheme looks to be Piper's 1974 era. I was taking flying lessons back then mostly in 1973 140's and then they got a 1974 Cherokee Warrior; same engine however with the new tapered wing. Brings back good memories!

Very nice! I'm getting back into the hobby after a long time. Paint and painting have changed so much! Please tell me exactly what "cheap inexpensive acrylics" (brand name?) you used. Spray can or brush or something else? What is the coat of clear and how did you apply it? Thanks, Alex

I have posted a pic of the brand of paints that I use. I use AMERICANA, FOLKART and DECOART brands of acrylics. They cost between $0.99 and 2.99 (per 2oz. bottle) here in Nampa, Idaho. You can apply the paints either with a brush or airbrush it onto your model. The clearcoat is an acrylic varnish that I brush on, I have yet to try airbrushing it on. You can buy these paints at any arts and crafts store.
