Plastic films tend to let go after a while rayl 06-Apr-18 16:39 Don; The cowl is strip planked w/ 3/32" balsa and primed with Glidden "Gripper" and the gills are 1/64" plywood. The hatch on top has had a coat of Gesso applied per DD. Unfortunately, I found out that applying Monokote over a sealed surface will lead to problems with bubbles under the Monokote. I will use a wallpaper "woodpecker" to install many small perforations all over to prevent the bubbles. The Cowl will be painted so I won't worry about that. Anders; So I've been told, but I bought a roll of Monokote, so I'm going to try it. Likely the plane will expire long before the Monokote has a chance to let go :-) jgood 06-Apr-18 17:21 Rayl, I used to use a lot of Solite over sealed balsa, and I think Monokote is the same from the one aircraft I did with it. Bubbles shouldn't be an issue, because you can just stick a pin in them, reapply heat, and they should lay perfectly flat. No pin hole visible.
