Moos...this is developing into a "Duckett"...super!

Test fit for the canopy. BINGO!! One coat Hobby-lite and one coat of Micro-fill worked great. One more coat MF should provide a great shape for silkspan covering.

Framing complete. Installed trim tabs and extra F1 former at wing root. Alterered the rear connection a touch but a good tight fit. Shaping next.

A piece of cake! Besides, it's the end result you are interested in, and this will give it a scale appearance. Wonderful craftsmanship, as usual.

Definitely in a good way. This was one of Guillow's best. Too bad they quit production of it.

I think Moost meant that in a good way Steve. David seemed to think it was a good kit too.
SteveM, Comment for image # 586520 Jan 08 19:09
Why is it a hell of a kit? Is that in a good or a bad way?
John M Oshust, Comment for image # 586420 Jan 08 17:29
Quality!

Wow! that thing is looking really good Moos, looks like you have the inventory from a small lumber yard in there.
moostang51, Image # 586520 Jan 08 16:30

Right wing needs to be completed but I had to do something else besides fill-in work; ergo rear surfaces. This is one hell of a kit.

Figured I try to mimic DD's tail plane and rudder assembly. Never tried it before. Gotta say, lots of cutting since all no kit parts were used.

Moos I have a Russian insignia collect at your disposal!

I thought that might be the case. There have been several sheeted planes on VA that turned out very well, maybe I'll give it a try on my Mosquito. Can't wait to see the new LG you got for yours.

Experimentation Steve M, experimentation. I'm trying all possible ways to skin. When I first found this site, I only knew of silkspan. Then I saw DD's work, bingo...watch and learn, the real way to cover with silkspan. Then I saw Poppy's work, bingo...watch and learn, 1/32" balsa sheets for covering. This kit I'm trying planking and silkspan covering. Each kit is different, and much the same, each build will be probably different. The thing is, I enjoy all the possible ways to build and that's the bottom line.

Capiche??? Don't make me make you an offer you can't refuse!!! BTW, LG for the Mossie was mailed on Saturday. And as Don Vito would say when he called in his service..."I ask that you use all your talent, because I don't want my son to see his landing gear in plastic like this." CAPICHE!!!!
SteveM, Comment for image # 577713 Jan 08 15:59
The BF-109 fuse was sheeted with 1/32" and came out very nicely, what made you decide to do this fuse differently?

Screw the decals! Mine became part of Poppy's Dauntless. It's much more fun masking and painting the red stars with white borders. The kit decals were a bit, shall we say, a bit oblong. Not much, but enough to make me paint my own. I'm really glad you finally got this bad boy in your hands. It is easily one of the best kits Guillows ever made and I'm sure you will enjoy building it. I'm also sure that the rest of us will enjoy watching as you do so. Having already built it, and since you're my friend, any advice you need will be offered at a discount from the normal Gazillion to the much less easy to manage YOMYA currency. Rates vary but currently one YOMYA, You Owe Me Your Ass, in American dollars about the same as a gazillion, will suffice. Checks, in your case, are accepted. Capiche?
David Duckett, Comment for image # 577713 Jan 08 15:39
Well, all I can say is that if you were taking my class, you would get an A+. I know that Poppy is hot on your ass but your version of this plane is Uber! Your Son is a lucky man. And for getting the plane, too.
moostang51, Image # 577813 Jan 08 15:33

Don't know when, but it will be a Soviet Eastern Front "Tank Buster". Extensive research to be put in before this build. BTW other than decals, kit is pristine.

One wing per plan, one per DD. Mess readied for my son's ceiling today.
