This plane surprises me how well it flies for being heavy, and a nice glide ratio too. Sturdy.

Great construction on both Avenger and Hawk! But even better engineering making them fly! Not easy making a scale model fly. I know as I test fly my Spitfire.

I really commend you and david and the other modelers who mix paints with such high degree of accuracy to the planes color schemes.

I used acrylic paint because I have lots of it. I mixed the color. I tried for not too dark blue and I went with a fairly bright white that has some light grey mixed in. The historic blue is pretty dark and doesn't take good pictures. My picture quality is iffy, but the if you saw the model in person it looks good, the blue is a good compromise.

what color is that mlriley, I was looking to do mine in that but couldn't find it?

After adding weight to the nose, the flight characteristics are a lot more friendly. I was able to reduce the trim tab angle to about 5 degrees. The plane still climbs a little too much but generally flies with a slight left bank and has a good glide ratio that is slightly to the right. I'll probably leave as is for a while. A good flier for a heavy model, I'm pleased with how it turned out. Still looks good too.

Finally flew this at the park today. It definitely surprised me. I had 3 loops of 1/16 rubber and the little prop shown in the image here. With 350 winds it pulled a hard emergency turn left due to torque. I pushed the trim tab to 65 degrees to compensate and that did allow the plane to straighten out, however, it instead powered into vertical flight and did two full loops! It flew quite high as it did these loops. I tried 6-7 flights with a similar result. When I got home (undamaged!) I struggled to pry the nose off but eventually was able to (it had crashed hard once and forced the nose down onto the fuselage). I added a little more weight to the nose so hopefully I can fly straighter next time. This model is heavy but still has plenty of lift. Almost there.

Minley: you did a marvelous job on this model, especially within just two weeks. Liked the finish, the outlines, and a bit of weathering. Very nice.

Very nice build, I am inspired by one in my build closet.

Tis actually turned out OK for such a short (13 day) build,

Almost done, did a few test flights with a small prop and eak motor. It seems to fly OK.
