He looks really good, PB. Just about ready for take off in that Stearman! |

More washes and drybrushing to follow. However, much of the base coat is still wet so I'll set "Bob" aside for now. Gee, I almost forgot that there's also a plane that came with the kit (lol)! |

Oh oh! He looks like John Belushi from "1941"!!! (lmao) Maybe I ought to stick a cigar in his mouth? |

ah... much better! Most of the major "plastic surgery" is done. He's even smiling now. "Beautiful Bob's" goggles was actually painted on using thickened scratch-filler primer paint. Ther strap is a strip cut from a wine bottle "lead". This stuff is really fun!!! |

Yes, PB, James is the name. |

Thanks jgood (James, right?) I've got a long way to go with this guy. I'm almost tempted to simply get a toy figure from Wal-Mart and modify it to save labour (ala John) !!! Of course, I'll have to remember to build the plane around him!!lol |

Got the shipment from Tower...yipee! The silkspan certainly feels much more durable than the kit tissue. Thanks to David for the suggestion. |

Looking very good. I've never attempted a pilot figure, they always look very difficult to do... |

Pilot figure starting to look better. I built up some areas with wet bathroom tissue (of all things!) soaked with thin CA. Chute straps are strips of printer paper applied wet. Still experimenting but seems to be sandable and shapeable. Lots of scratchfiller/primer to come. Some soft fine gauge solder (Radio Shack) for the buckles and harness details. |

Because of the amount of grinding needed around the cockpit, I thought it would be easier to pre-assemble each cockpit half (including sheeting where appropriate) and then glueing the halves together after all the detail work is done; somewhat akin to a plastic model. |
