This depicts one flown by LT(jg)Paul "Lefty" Holmberg who scored first hit on carrier Soryu during the Battle of Midway.

Finished at last! I may be slow, but I'm thorough.

Slowly, very slowly, I'm getting there. Had to take time out for the Flu bug. Thanks to DD I now have stars on fuselage. Will have to darken wing stars to match.

At least I'm not the only one. I ordered some decals for my SE5a in October and I still haven't received them. I've heard nothing from Guillow's since late November - it seems like they just don't want to know any more and are hoping I will just go away. Anyway, I gave up hope of ever seeing my decals and resorted to painting some of the markings on instead. I've had great help from Guillow's customer services in the past and always thought them to be top notch, but now I think it stinks. Whether it's a change of personnel or something I don't know...

I'm in same boat. Waiting for new sheet decals for the Mess from Guillow's as old ones were too brittle to even slide off sheet. Started panel lines on topside wings, intake mesh and some weathering. No enough to post yet though. Sort of reminds me of "the check is on the mail" phrase.

Meanwhile, details continue. Lifting cable is heavy thread inserted into Evergreen tubing and painted silver. RDF loop is Evergreen tube, white light is shaped basswood, formation light is punched .020 styrene w/ taillight from model car.

Thanks. From what I have observed on this site, there is plenty of talent from all.

Wing bombs. Carved 1/2" dowel, fuses made from .020 shett styrene twisted and plastic rod, fins from goody box.

Thanks friends. You are all too kind. The details keep getting added because I am awaiting decals for fuse. and there's nothing else to do. I am even going to try and make some wing bombs because the kit ones look silly.

Poppy, from the number of bows you should be taking for this masterpiece, I would suggest you up you daily calorie intake accordingly. I just can't find the right words without using a lot of expletives.
