I think all is working again now. Please leave a comment on a photo somewhere if something you need is not working still.

LWMan. The 1/2 liter, 500ml variety.

John I hope those were not one gallon plastic bottles of drinking water that Gumby had to drink ... cool magazines.
John M Oshust, Image # 3811014 Mar 17 14:47

Magazines are easier to fabricate thru repetition. Fortunately I hope to be making Vickers guns in the future so this was time well spent.

Gumby fills the magazine racks.

Skye, I have made a few magazines from wood discs. This was easier and produced a better product. I was fortunate that the bottle caps were the scale to match the future Baboon's Vickers.

Also meant to say thanks for the insight on the operation of the Lewis gun. I knew from the design, it wouldn't work with an interrupter mechanism, but didn't know about the gravity-feed system. I can see now, how and why they were prone to jamming. That must have been very frustrating and frightening at the same time.

Very nicely done. That's a great idea how you fabricated the cartridge..... er, magazine..... rack.

Using bottle caps was a smart idea. Very nicely done. I did mine the hard way and fabricated the Lewis cartridge from scratch.

Two magazines down, five to go! Unfortunately the magazines evolve from water bottle caps not Guinness sad😭

I was the benefactor of a serendipitous epiphany this morning when I realized that water bottle caps could be converted into Lewis gun cartridge magazines. I must make five more for the magazine racks!

That's it! Good one!

The doctor is in. Please take a magazine off of the rack and wait until called! The magazines only held 40 rounds and relied on gravity to drop cartridges into the gun. Lewis guns would not function inverted nor could they be outfitted with an interrupter cam/gear to permit firing through a prop.

Water bottle cap!

John that ammo magazine looks familiar ...?

Working on the gunners pit. Magazine racks for extra 40 round Vickers magazines.

Yep, we've entered the " Old Fart Zone." LOL (I'm from the same era.)

That is just great, sir. By the way, I learned to drive on a '56, later wrecked a '53 and early in the marriage had a '52 with the first "powerslide" - what a tank!

Putting friends in the trunk then going to a drive in movie. We were such holligans!

$0.18/gal when the gas war was on, Schiltz or Blatz beer ($1.50 for a case) and a carload of hooligans. Sigh.
John M Oshust, Comment for image # 3808508 Mar 17 15:34
Rayl. Thanks. '54 Chevy, sweet. I had a 53 with three on the tree and a 56 that I put 3 on the floor. Those days I would buy a dollars worth of gas, get a free drinking glass, and drive all night!
