I actually did build this several years ago but it never got a motor.

It's plastic.
Don C, Comment for image # 4110119 Jun 19 19:10
Wood or plastic?

When the aircraft was first introduced I built two or three 1/48 scale kits by Testors. Finding it in a larger scale is great. The real plane is 65' long.

I didn't know this was available! It's one of my most favorite aircraft and at this scale it's 27" long. Sometime in the future...

We're very lucky to have some good friends who fly U2's at Beale AFB. They've been gracious to show us around, and even get some time in the chase car, which follows the landing U2's, helping talk the pilot through the difficult 'stopping flying' phase of flight!

It's a Todays Hobbies kit, $24.95 from Penn Valley Hobby shop.

I saw the weather man on the news talking about this and wondered if you'd get a picture. Should be interesting to see the moon in there too.

Adding the 4 antennae finishes the Nighthawk. Finally.

Thanks, guys! It's definitely balsa, all 3.1 oz/89 gr of it.
RodN, Comment for image # 859510 Jun 08 17:44
Beautiful model David!! I agree you cannot tell that it is a balsa kit.
