Iam no expert on rubber band planes.Every thing I build banks to the left. Then eventualy spinning in.Think it is a torqe roll.I taped a pice of paper to my left wing and bend it to counter act the banking problem.Think the proper way is to adjust your prop hub to the right with a little downs for climbing on take off.kind of like shimming a motor in posion

Question for the experts out there. About 1/2 way through the flights, the Monocoupe all of a sudden banks hard left and dives into the ground. Help? What do I need to do to prevent this? The first 1/2 of the flight is fine, just a gentle turn to the left under power then as the motor winds down it does this... Thanks! Mark

Oh, and some I tried some crazy things while tuning it. I moved the knot from back on the peg to about 1/2 way up in the fuselage. Don't know why but it balanced better and the motor unwound better too.

Update: thanks to the help from folks on this site and other FF sites, I've been able to tune the Monocoupe so that it'll do one big circle and land at my feet after about 15-20 seconds of flight. My yard isn't quite big enough to tempt fate and go for a second loop! But the plane flies wonderfully and it's been very educational trying to learn how to power it and trim it.

Good news! After repairs, I waited until the wind calmed down and did some test flights. The gliide tests were perfect so I put about 150 winds in it (1/4" FIA tan, 1 loop) and got a nice little flight. Then I put 300 winds in it, crossed my fingers and let 'er go. She climbed and banked to the left and gave me a nice lazy left hand circle for about 10 seconds. Beautiful attitude in the air, so stable and peaceful. Woo hoo! I need a bigger field if I'm going to give it full winds though...

I hate that this happen! Its hard to be patient after a long build.I done the same thing many times.Got to wait on the weath conditions with rubber power. Its really nice to find a patch of tall grass for test porpses.I really never gotwhat I wanted in rubber flight. You really have to tune it out perfect and then wait for perft conditions.I still have alot of fun with them but Iamno pro at it yet.Beautiful airplane

Well, the test flights didn't go so well, but it's mostly because I was impatient and didn't wait for the wind to die down. The Monocoupe banked and augered in hard, breaking off the left landing gear and breaking the right elevator stab. Repairs are underway!!!

waiting for clearance from the tower!

Getting ready for its test flights when the winds calm down. The prop is an old Guillow's prop from a series 1000 F6F-3 Hellcat kit cut down to diameter and reshaped. I like the black color better than the red prop that came in the SIG kit.

Thank you! I'm always looking for ways to find interesting images in my hobbies, even with "plain old" digital cameras.

This is really looking good! I was lucky enough to see 2 of the real thing fly together this past weekend; one was a 1929 vintage.
