I covered this wet and another trick is to do it quickly. The first side covered will tend to warp so I cover the other side as soon as possible. The first side will not be completely dried when the second side is covered so the pressure caused by the shrinking dope will affect both sides at the same time. "For every action....." :-)

One of the ways to help prevent warping with thin balsa construction is to add cross bracing like this, also used in the Pilatus and Beaver. I also applied a coat of filler and sanded it smooth before doping the framework. The frame, or any area to be covered, gets at least two coats of dope before covering starts.

another elaborate feat accomplished, dd!

Nicely done. Craftsmanship is superb as usual. This model kit is a great canvas to let your artistic talents run amok.

Again, thanks. These are both easy and well engineered kits and certainly worth the $26.99 price. This one is even a "by the number" build and the plans have complete instructions on how to cover, as well. It has an AUW of 2.7 ounces, 79 grams, and while I have no idea if that's light enough for rubber power, it's light enough to be blown around outside. The canopy is almost a perfect fit as is the cowling. The spinner matches the cowling equally well. It's close cause it's glued in.:-)

Add 15 strands of .25 rubber for life-like performance ... :-) Very nice model. How do you get the spinner to fit so closely to the fuselage?

Very nice work on this and the Porter!

I agree. Thanks.

My objective with this one was to see how the decals look. I like the fuselage part and the wings but not the tail feathers.

Many colorful designs and patterns are used on RC models of the EDGE, but the yellow checkerboard decals, which are a major component of this Guillow's kit, do put some limitations on paint scheme ideas.

the effect combined with the blue/grey is of a sharpened blade, at least to my eye. :) its sorta edgy... very nice!

And, very conservatively colored compared to most Edges I've seen.

Thanks, y'all. It is a bit petite...:-)

That's actually the light gray/silver being used on the B-29. I would have painted it silver but, alas, I'm out at the moment.

My progress on the EDGE is slow due to other projects. Like your colors. Is the underside of the wings all white or just the leading edge?

VERY NICE INDEED!!
