I would love to have one of Poppy's models... but they really need to be where people can see and appreciate them. I'm glad his son is making that happen. History (and the artistry of Poppy) lives on in these airplanes he built. An inspiration for future modelers for sure.

Update: I got a note from Poppy's son Steven today. He has donated 15 of Poppy's models to the Commemorative Air Force and will be giving some more to a museum in Fredricksburg, Texas. There are several other museums which have expressed interest. I'll keep y'all posted. Happy New Year!!!

My condolences to Poppy's family and friends. He was one of the first to inspire and challenge me when I found this site. My Comet F4U was a gift from Poppy. Vaya con Dios Poppy.

Lately, everything I build flies, but I'm tempted to do a static just to see if I can do a museum quality build like Poppy and Dave D. Ouch! I posted this before I read half way down the list of replies. Sorry to hear of his passing.
