The red is what has to be removed first and is easily done, gently, with a sanding block. The patina on the aluminum cowling is courtesy of 56 years sitting in a box. Priceless.

The wing and tail assembly are not yet glued on. All the fuselage pieces are glued together. It's nearly daylight and mild so I'll be going outside to do some sanding.
