Masking tape pressed firmly against the canopy shows where the molding is and a sharpie defines it which makes it much easier to cut correctly. This works for all canopies but it's especially important to get it right on an OOP kit. |

Scale wheels for balsa models of planes made after WW1 are impossible to find unless you're building a Cub so I look for scale-like wheels. The big wheel is the standard Guillows 1 3/4" and will not be used as a 1 1/2" size is called for and they're on the way from the UK. The nose wheel is 1.25", a lightweight design with a nylon hub from China. You can find more wheels on Ebay by searching for "R/C aircraft wheels". 3 of the 1.25" wheels were just over $8. The balsa "tanks" were carved for the F-80 and may or may not be used here. |

The planned colors are similar to this model but without the garish tanks. It will have a full landing gear. |

The low winter morning sun shining through the front window briefly adds a bit of light to the work area where the third filler app is on. |

I finally was able to get the fairings sanded so the next area for filler is the sections made with the 1/16" stringers, top and bottom. |
