| For Yellow you almost always need a white under coat. |

| A light brown or tan close to the yellow will work best as an underpainting, primer, and allow fewer coats of yellow. |

| Again, thanks for the help. I haven't done a silkspan covering since I was a kid. Long time ago! Figured that I had to use dope.I am going to check out your piece on acrylics on the Guillow's site. I used them on the P-40 for the nose art and it works well. I only do this in the winter when It's too cold to get on the horse, so my experience from the 50's is a little out of date. This site really helps. |

| If you use spray paint, white is a good undercoat as sprayed paint covers better. Brushed paint doesn't cover as well unless it's thick. That's OK for Van Gogh but not for models. I use several coats of thin paint and that requires an opaque ground (surface), especially with the transparent colors yellow, red, orange, and some shades of green and blue. |

| I never paint with colored dope and I only have one color left, yellow, just like yours. Krylon has never failed me, the price is right and no spray gun to clean up! |

| OK, spent the weekend on every site I could find. Mr. Duckett, read your piece on Guillow's site. I really like your C-47. Now, can I spray Krylon over the butyrate? It would make life simpler. Or, if I can't find the correct color in Krylon, can I brush acrylic over the butyrate? Also making life simpler. |

| Krylon is not the only choice. Liquitex also makes their paint in spray cans at about $12 per can. |
