| SteveM | 18-Dec-07 03:44 | | Upper wing attached. Prop and nose cone just need some paint. |
| Barnstormer | 18-Dec-07 05:15 | | Looking great Steve, you really did a beautiful job all the way around. The wood grain just really sets this one off. Excellant job, and scratch built too!! |
| cdwheatley | 18-Dec-07 05:41 | | How did you go about painting the wood grain? |
| SteveM | 18-Dec-07 12:27 | | I primed it with gray then covered the whole area with a light yellow-brown (I was aiming for honey color). Then I brushed on one layer of a medium brown, allowing it to cover the light yellow-brown in some areas and not covering it in other areas. For this part I brushed with the narrow side of a flat brush so I would get thin lines of paint but could flip to the wide side to blur/blend as needed.
The last color was Raw Umber straight from the tube to add some of the darker areas and the panel lines. I got carried away with the panel lines near the nose and needed to remove one, which it why there is a light colored blur between the first two panel lines. |
| David Duckett | 18-Dec-07 13:18 | | Vermeer would be proud! |
| SteveM | 18-Dec-07 13:48 | | Vermeer the painter? |
| David Duckett | 18-Dec-07 14:07 | | Yep! Johannes Vermeer. |
| moostang51 | 18-Dec-07 18:03 | | I believe Delft or any artist would be proud. |
