| I believe that they were first introduced on the F-111B in the early 60's and was called AIM-47. When the F14 was introduced, it was the primary aircraft of choice (AIM-54). Since the F14 Tomcat is retired, they use AIM-120, short range version on the F18's. |

| The F-14 was retired from US naval service in 2006 and replaced with the F-18. The Iranians still have a few Tomcats. |
