| jernst | 06-Jul-07 22:44 | | Began covering te wings tonight |
| jgood | 07-Jul-07 00:13 | | Love that style of doing markings. What kind of pen do you use for the white? |
| jernst | 07-Jul-07 05:25 | | Thanks. It's a gel ink pen I got at "Michael's" craft store. The brand name is 'Gelly Roll'. |
| jgood | 07-Jul-07 08:27 | | John, do you seal your tissue after attaching? I use the white glue / wet method of covering, which works fine, but now I want to use the water slide decals that Guillows supply. I think I need to dope the covering to stop the decals from wrinkling the tissue. Maybe I should just pen my crosses in like you, that'll save the weight of the dope. |
| jernst | 07-Jul-07 08:34 | | I pre-shrink all my tissue by stretching it on a frame, spraying it with water, letting it tighten, them repeating...several times. I attach the tissue to the balse frame with "Uhu" brand gluestick, pas over all the seams with a trim iron, then spray the tissue to seal it with "Krylon" spray acrylic in a spray can. Where there will be waterslide decals, I spray a couple of coats of "Krylon". Hope this helps. |
| jernst | 07-Jul-07 08:35 | | Sorry, my typing is terrible. |
| jgood | 07-Jul-07 09:08 | | That's great information, thanks. I will try the glue stick method one day. Is this the Krylon that you use? |
| jernst | 07-Jul-07 10:46 | | Yeah. That's the one. I use the 'satin' finish however.
