| What can you share about getting the horizontzl stab in exactly the right place to garantee correct angle of incidence? |

| Excellent craftsmanship! |

| Started trimming flights today. Decided to drill into nose area and add lead weight. |

| To tell you the truth, I'm not sure wether to paint it at all. The plane feels so weak. Everytime I pick it up something breaks. I dont really want to go to all the trouble of a paint job only to total it on the first flight. |

| Oh, I see, I assumed it was a plastic cowling..Thanx, JGJ |

| Cowling was carve from block, so are the nodules but im going to check the CG first as the plane is feeling nose heavy already. Also i have made the wings detachable with magnets so im not sure about the struts. |

| Looks like the new Smithsonian Air & Space Annex at Dulles Airport. Very impressive place! Enola Gay, Concorde, SR-71, Space Shuttle Enterprise are all there - just to rattle off a few. |

| Nice! That's some assortment of aircraft. |

| Noticing the nodules around the cowling....does the kit cowling have these nodules???? Yes, neat color scheme...similiar to my Pitts Special. |

Already decided on the paint scheme. Something similar to this! |

| Since I don't build flyers (maybe "anchors") this may be a dumb question. But for coloring have you tried something like Doc Martin's inks? The colors are intense and being inks you don't have the weight of a lot of pigment like paint. |

Windscreen to install, a bit of a sand and tidy up. Then airbrushing. |

Typical I'm starting to enjoy this build. |

| WS...I've used the 50/50 on both regular kit tissue and silkspan (after the initial water shrinking)almost exclusively without a problem. The 50/50 acts as a sealer, so as many coats as you like...I generally do 2 or 3. The tissue will sag after each coat but, will return when dry. Some mix some alcohol to speed the drying....I usually use a hair dryer on the lowest heat setting...if I am in a hurry. |

| I covered the wings using different tissues 4 times and every time was disappointed by the result. So i started a new model and went back to this one. I finally found a method (and material) that suits me.
What about the hardening of the tissue. I tried 4 coats of none shrinking dope then started airbrushing but the tissue sagged and didnt return to shape. I believe some people use 50/50 elmers/water but how many coats.
Any suggestions? |
