Got these vintage kits for Christmas. Smaller scale (18" wing span) than kits recently built. Less space to incorporate working flight controls from the cockpit.

After a year off from modeling I decided to have a go at this one. After getting the kit for Christmas I started collecting pics prior to beginning construction. This Scout is located here at the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach, VA. I visited the museum right after Christmas and took lots of detailed photos of this plane. I’ll post photos of the build, start to finish, until someone tells me to stop.

lots of interesting metal fabrication at the nose, cowl, forward fuselage of these UPF's - also the lower wing roots and the landing gear geometry can pose challenges...nothing you can't overcome BPG - I've seen your work!

My project for this winter is going to be a scratch-built WACO UPF-7 modeled after the one my daughter and I flew in a few years ago. I couldn't find a kit but did find some plans online. I couldn't find an engine either but was able to use the Guillows PT-17 engine as a starting point. I then had a reprographics company scale the plans to the engine. So here we go.

Didn't have room for the Tiger Moth so it's on display at the local HobbyTown.
