After sanding the landing gear to size I then added 1/16” balsa to each side of the 1/4" balsa to get the correct size opening for the wheels. Cut another pattern from cardboard this time (actually it was from the chocolate covered cherry box from Christmas). Everything was screwed together again and using my dremel in my workstation with a drum sander I sanded out the wheel area. I then had to sand the 1/16” balsa to the correct shape.

I like your approach to getting the primary aspects of the aircraft to look right and be representative of the actual plane. The peanut scale models are always going to be 'light' on true to scale features in order to save weight (if I can be Capt. Obvious about it) Your solutions so far should lend to a fantastic true to scale outcome, in my humble opinion..Keep going!

Thanks for the kind words heywooood. I have glued 1/8" balsa to each side and now need to get to shaping and sanding. As it turns out it was a good thing that I made three of these. I had to add 1/4" balsa block to the back pattern so it would be flat for the jigsaw since the bolt heads made it uneven. When I used the Dremel I had to do the same but since I was using a cardboard pattern on the top I tack glued the blocks to the third copy. You can see where this is heading. When I tried to take the block off it screwed that piece up.

I like this method. It should be a lot easier to get 2 identical parts. Unfortunately my P6 has a bad limp on the left leg. On the block that went bad. I've used wax paper between the 2 pieces I want to separate and 3M spray adhesive, "88" maybe, very lightly. You still have to sand off some of the waxpaper, but it comes apart fairly well. I repeat, lightly on the spray.
