Anchorage Alaska? Are you one of those guys on the crab boats? Seriously, I looked at work up there doing UT on the pipeline welds and went up to visit, that was the end. I didn't want to write my wife (ex-wife) "Dear Dorothy, today I almost got eaten by a Polar Bear." She would have said Try Harder! I have to be honest, this is better than my first P-38, looked like I used Purple Meth as a bonding agent. Come to think of it, anyhow I am an adult. I still suck at covering and will tell you that some of my stuff is so lame I don't show it on this web. Or anywhere else, but the grandkids still think they look great so I really don't care about anybody else's opinion. Except for maybe Bill Parker's, he is special. I want to slide into one of his planes, pull the cord a few times and taxi down the field and run into a trailer parked at the end of the runway. A fitting end for such a sailor as myself. Patience, perseverance and repetition are the keys. You did well, do it again and all will be as it should.

SteveM: Ure comment is hilarious I will admit.

Wow, I can actually criticize myself...go figure.

I will admit this p-38 could have been better. I never claimed to be a professional or be with without flaws myself. I live in Anchorage, Ak and building these fairly nice builds is just a way for me to pass the time with the cold, dark winters we have. I will never be any better at building than what I am right now, and I am ok with that.

I can take criticism, it works both ways. Thanks for the input, you guys all have some awesome builds. I also did apologize for my comments. I have never built airplanes with the flaps, or controls...never learned how, like I said I am self tought. However I am still very proud of what I have accomplished with my builds and you all should be of yours also. I do think that your criticism of me is going way to far...but it is what it is. I never meant any harm to him or anyone else, I merely made a comment that I shouldn't have I guess. I will take this like a man (and apologize one more time). Sincerely, Chad Meyer

Hey guys, I too enjoy this site very much. You guys have taught me a whole lot since I have got back into this hobby. Bill summed it up perfectly. I did not mean to cause a stir, but I could not fathom an insult like that.

Yes and the cockpit is the wrong color and the tail too thick!!!

I've been trying hard to keep my mouth shut about that little whoop-de-doo yesterday, but here's my 2 cents... When I first came around here, (this forum) my first impression was it was about enthusiasm, inclusion, and encouragement. We all already know what's wrong with our projects, but is sure is nice to have our peers congratulate our efforts. I hang out here, because it's a very pleasant experience, and I thank all involved here for that, especially Mr. Good, for providing this space for us all to enjoy. And that's enuff about that! **BLUSH**

Well said, DD. As Strother Martin (the Captain) said in "Cool Hand Luke", "What we have here is a failure to communicate".

His B-17 was much better, but even if all his models had been perfect he still jumped in with all the care of a bull in a china shop.

You may recognize the picture. The problem with criticising someone's work is that it invites a second look at the work of the critic. I would expect more from someone with 20-25 years of experiernce. For example, there are no control surfaces on any of these models; no rudders, elevators, flaps, or ailerons. I could continue but you can see for yourself. Interestingly, in the scroll with the Guillows Photo of the Month, this guy's B-17G, also without control surfaces, is right beside Brian's Spitfire.I do understand about wanting to correct something wrong, i.e. "I seen" (sic), but that's for another forum.
