jgood, Image # 1905 | 30 Jul 06 21:31 | Laying on a coat of 'paint'. |
jgood, Image # 1900 | 29 Jul 06 23:00 | The elevator push rod is installed, but the surfaces aren't glued to the fuselage yet. I'm still not sure how to do the pull-pull controls for the rudder... |
jgood, Image # 1899 | 29 Jul 06 22:58 | Floppy disk hinges on the surfaces. I cut out small squares cut from a 3.5'' floppy disk, sanded them a little to give the CA something to hold onto, and made slots in the surfaces. The floppy disk material is very strong, and quite flexible. |
jgood, Image # 1898 | 29 Jul 06 22:57 | Covering the tail surfaces. I'm using yellow Solarfilm. I hope it's light enough - I usually use Solite. |
jgood, Image # 1886 | 25 Jul 06 08:10 | Covering started. |
jgood, Image # 1885 | 23 Jul 06 22:20 | Done for the day... Spot the first bit of covering... |

jgood, Image # 1883 | 23 Jul 06 22:19 | I really have to finish that last wing tip! |
jgood, Image # 1882 | 23 Jul 06 14:39 | The front section is coming together! The prop is an APC 10x4.7. The motor is a Towerpro 2409-18SS, with an 18A brushless ESC. |
jgood, Image # 1881 | 23 Jul 06 14:37 | Showing the motor bolted to the mount. |
jgood, Image # 1880 | 23 Jul 06 14:36 | The rear of the mount. |
jgood, Image # 1879 | 23 Jul 06 14:36 | Here is the motor mount. The motor bolts onto the mount with 3 small bolts/nuts. The side members are not supporting the motor at all, they are just for the top cowl to rest on. |
jgood, Image # 1878 | 23 Jul 06 14:33 | This is the nose cowl mount. The plastic nose cowl mounts to the front of this, and then this part is bolted to bottom of the motor mount. |
jgood, Image # 1877 | 23 Jul 06 14:32 | Here is the unfinished top cowling. |
jgood, Image # 1876 | 23 Jul 06 12:32 | Motor mount area, ready for the top cowling. |
jgood, Image # 1875 | 23 Jul 06 12:31 | Former for the cowling, rear end. The 'wedge' is just temporary to ensure the former is built at the correct angle on my building board. |
jgood, Image # 1858 | 16 Jul 06 19:15 | The new dihedral, and an extra finished wing tip! |
jgood, Image # 1857 | 16 Jul 06 19:15 | The top dihedral (minus inter-plane struts) as now set for a more scale appearance. Hope the flying characteristics aren't negatively affected. |
jgood, Image # 1856 | 16 Jul 06 19:12 | Here's how the dihedral is set in place now that we can't use the laser cut holes. 1/8'' balsa is used to hold the tubes at the correct level. Should be strong enough I think (stronger that the original holes, I would think). |
jgood, Image # 1855 | 16 Jul 06 19:11 | Showing the Al tubes which now have to be modified to seat higher on the outer rib, setting the top wing dihedral. |
