| Took a little Google Fu, but found this site https://imgur.com/a/skCIZ with a numbered diagram. Apparently, the ring was an "Auxiliary tank wind cowl"! |

Diels kits are " a craftsman type kit". Yup! The engine/cowling is made from 10 pieces of 1/8" printwood, the ring 4. |
