D'oh! I realized I got the treaty wrong. Not SALT-2 but New START treaty. Aircraft had to be positioned in a specific way so that the Russian Satellites could see that they have been destroyed.

Okay then! That's pretty current!

Do you know when the picture was taken? It's interesting to see the B-52G models with the wings and tails cut off for the SALT-2 nuclear disarmament treaty. I was an Offensive Avionics Technician on B-52's in the mid to late 80's. I probably worked on some of those A/C down there. And I agree with the statement about people with character!

Nice arial shot of the boneyard, Dave - never seen it from this perspective. The Ercoupe’s controls are linked from the factory. RC pilots could think of control ‘mixing’ as when the the pilot inputs a bank to the ailerons by moving the yoke in the direction he wants to bank, the rudders move in that direction as well, to eliminate yaw and help make coordinated turns. The plane would be ideal for an aviator so impaired - although the challenge is no less amazing to overcome regardless. Douglas Bader flew Hurri’s and Spitfires without legs while fighting in the BoB. People of great character can do anything they care to do.

James is flying this Ercoupe to Washington, DC, for some kind of ceremony, leaving his here. This one belongs to a lady who is a licensed pilot which by itself isn’t unusual. But she has no arms and flies it with her feet and that is amazing!

James is in the yellow Ercoupe flying over the neighborhood on the way to Washington, DC.

My first job was as a 16 year old 'ramp monkey' for an air service. Airplanes, I washed them, polished them, waxed them, cleaned them out, prepared them for flights, towed them around, parked them, tied them down, and swept and sometimes washed the hangar floor. Most fun job I ever had! And, oddly enough, one of the most responsible.

Timeless, I guess.
