Brian, adding to John's comments, draw out your lines and then mask them. These stripes took me awhile. Lots of patience, for the checkers, I've no clue, sorry. :(

It just took over a week. After my little ones were put to bed it was my time to work at it a little every night.

Almost forgot to ask: How long did it take you to get from the bare kit picture to the skeleton plane picture on the 15th of November? Just wondering how slow I am in comparison to others :)

I'll have to check his out when I start getting closer to completion of the frame. I've been reading Mike's tutorial (http://www.ffscale.co.uk/comper.htm) as I go along on my F-82 to get tips and such. It's helped a lot, in that I don't make as many mistakes along the way like I did when I tried to build my FW-190 using just the guillow's instructions. With no other F-82s on the site, the P-51s like yours will be really helpful I'm sure.

Just take your time and don't rush through it. There are tons of experienced modellers on here that you can learn all different kinds of techniques. There are too many to mention, but for this build I've studied David's P51 and read all about how he prepares his models for paint, and this is what turned out. Just remember, take your time and have fun and it will look great when your finished.

Thanks for posting your progress on the P-51. It is a sharp looking model, and you can be very proud of it.

This too was my first model, but it was nothing like this. Beautiful Bird.

Actually, thank you David. I looked over your P-51 a hundred times and all your other models for that fact, and truly you are a magnificent builder.

Good job!

My first balsa model was a success. Thanks to all the great model builders who provide us with certain secrets of building. I had a blast building this aircraft and learned alot for my next model. I leaning towards a jet aircraft this time.
