Thanks.

Despite what I've said about the looks of the design of the plane, your build and paint job really make it look AWESOME.

Amazing, DD. You made that ugly bugger look good.

Nice work on the contra-rotating airscrews Dave - looks like what’s in the bottom of the blenders at Jamba Juice.

Wow ! Great stuff David - love it, not such an ugly duckling after all!

A couple of more building sessions should finish it.

In pursuit of bubble canopies

I have a great respect for DD's creations. And I'm sure this one will be no exception. Heck, during WW2 people said the B-24 was just the crate that B-17s were shipped in, because they thought it was an inelegant looking plane. If you do want to see a Gannet in person, Pima Air & Space Museum does have one. You can see what they say about it here. https://pimaair.org/museum-aircraft/fairey-gannet/

As a lover of "strangely appealing" aircraft from all nationalities, I'm glad to see this one being built. Each design has its story. With war aircraft, it is often expediency and need. Sometimes it's the best they could do with the time and resources available. Thanks for showing us this one!

Be a great addition to your builds David D - The Victor. What a Beauty.....
bobgood, Comment for image # 4259118 Aug 20 10:35
Who was it that created the Handley Page Victor & the Avro Vulcan too Creosotewind? Were they not beautiful aircraft?
heywooood, Comment for image # 4259117 Aug 20 23:55
I agree with everything stated here already..lol If I could add one thing it would be that it takes a deep and abiding love of aviation to devote so much time and energy to perfecting ones ability to replicate any aircraft in the catalog..and most especially this one. She’s a beauty, Dave! No doubt your effort will cause us all to rethink and appreciate even this airframe.
David Duckett, Comment for image # 4259117 Aug 20 17:54
They have an Avro Shackleton.
Creosotewind, Comment for image # 4259117 Aug 20 16:52
That is true David. Don't they have one of these at the Pima Air Museum? I thought I saw one the last time I was there.
David Duckett, Comment for image # 4259117 Aug 20 15:46
That it isn’t a Spitfire or Mustang is reason enough to build it.
hjlittman, Comment for image # 4259117 Aug 20 15:19
Wonderful description! The British have a long history of designs like this. This is a worthy successor to the Avro Bison https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avro_Bison and the Blackburn Blackburn https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackburn_Blackburn
bobgood, Comment for image # 4259117 Aug 20 13:42
....it will look a super machine when David is done.
bobgood, Comment for image # 4259117 Aug 20 13:41
"all that glitters is not Gold!"!
Creosotewind, Comment for image # 4259117 Aug 20 10:40
If you were to put a Mustang or Spitfire on one end of the beautiful design scale, I'm not sure there is enough length on the opposite end to put this plane. It is the absolute epitome of the old saying "A camel is a horse designed by committee." And that is not a dig or reflection on your build, which is great. That is just one ugly a** plane.
