The BE 12 series had a faulty interruptor cam connecting the Vickers to the engine. The cam only functioned at full throttle. When fired at slower speeds the gun would hit the airscrew. To eliminate the problem, the airscrew had deflection plates installed on the blades, permitting bullets to ricochet off the prop at slower speeds. Fortunately Ogre is equipped with the improved gear, really a cam, so the airscrew does not need the amour protection!

No Sir. It is the BE2e at Duxford. I just happened upon the photo today while whiling away a cold dreary afternoon.

Neither did I. I looked at many but never saw this before! As has happened in the past, good references appear after the deed is done...ho humm! Is this a model?

Gee, John, didn't I just see this. You should be flattered that they imitated your airscrew.

Hard to find local stores like that anymore. (Courtesy of the J.L. Highfill collection.)

One thing has always worried me about my accumulation of Models and tools: That my wife would sell them for what I told her I had paid for them. (Shudder)

I'm not into plastic models but I did spend lots of time on 130s and if I ever built one it would not be a black one with guns hanging out of it but one like those I saw everyday. I'm sure it will be a hot item at the contest.

Wise decision on the xylophone, almost as good as a drum set!

David: If the IPMS types don't buy it on April 11th, I will certainly consider a special VA deal; make me an offer.

I did manage to find the Barbie Townhouse, Barbie Swimming Pool other assorted do-das that Grandma was questing for. I was told that I could not bring the Xylophone down to give to her.

rayl, Your task was successful, you found toys but they are yours...where are the Granddaughter's toys?
David Duckett, Comment for image # 3372701 Apr 15 16:46
That's what I figured. Thanks.

The one on the end of the bench? It is a Testor's 1/48 AC-130A gunship. Probably around $100.00.

Uhhh, that's hoarding, my friend. How much for the C-130?

Part of my "handyman" task(s) was to go through our attic to find toys for our Grandaughter. What I got sidetracked on was sorting an cataloging all of the plastic models that I have accumulated (NOT Horded!!!) in the last 45 years. 400(+) and still counting. Hopefully I can unload the majority of them at the regional IPMS contest next month.

This was when aviation gas was cheap!

Now that looks like fun!! Kermit Weeks in his J2F back in 2002. They removed the tailhook and bolted up a clevis to attach the ski ropes. One of the dummies tried barefooting it later: Didn't work well.
