Yes, you go get it. Some contest models can end up out of sight. I do more sport flying, low power limited turns. Still I have put a few in the trees.

I've never done free flight, hence the dumb questions. So after the prop quits it just slowly spirals down and you go retrieve it?

Yes it is. The camera makes it look higher than it is. I am flying with a single loop of 3/16th tan rubber, and a 6 inch plastic that came with the kit. This flight was around 400 turns.
