Hi Steve. This looks great. I love this aircraft. Please don't take any offence, but are you sure the Pixie ESC is enough? The recommended 25 amp does sound like overkill but don't you think the Pixie 7 just might be cutting it a little close? As everything heats up during flight doesn't the amp draw also increase? It would be an absolute shame if something "Adverse" happened to this aircraft. Sincerely. Phil

It took two weeks for the motor wire I ordered to go to my old address 80 miles away before finding its way to me. Of course that wasn't till I gave up and ordered more wire from somewhere else only to have them both arrive in the mail today. Anyhow, all of the electroncs tested out fine.

The directions say to stick the motor on with silicone caulk, but I drilled a small hole and used some left over servo mounting screws instead.

Of course the directions tell you to route the wire through a non-existing hole so you have to cut your own.

Somehow I managed to get this far in the build without thinking about having to extend the motor wires and making a "Y" cable for them. I also need to figure out which motor rotates which way.

The HS-55 servos fit well enough, but I had to do some cutting to allow th servo wires and Dubro E/Z connector to clear. The radio is essential to exercise the full range of motion.

Thanks David, the camera is very kind in hiding small voids between the pieces of the bow outlines and what not.

I wanted to add that these are Hitec HS-50 servos and they are about the same physical size as the Cirrus CS-10BB used by Pat in his build. The HS-50 servos are actually a little faster and have a little more torque, but do weigh about 1g more each. http://www.servodatabase.com/compare?servos=247,847

The center servo is for the rudder and will be in a pull-pull configuration. The servo mounted on the right hand side (this is a bottom view) is for the elevator and uses a push rod of 0.025" inside a 1/16" Sullivan cable sleeve. The directions say to mount the elevator servo on the left hand side and the plans show it on both sides, leaving the true location as an exercise in patience. I also took a peek to see how Pat did it: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=977850

Routing of the elevator push rod and sleeve make it clear that the elevator servo does belong on the right hand side.

Brilliant work Steve, it looks like it is progressing really well.

Rudder assembly.

Detail view showing the alignment of parts FW and FWST. Mine had some slop in the fit and the plans made it look like the tops are flush, but you want to make the bottom edges flush instead.

Thanks guys, I'm going to try to keep working on it a little at a time. Yesterday afternoon and evening I tried to build the rudder but I wasn't able to dedicate enough time to get it finished. The nearest RC club air field that I am aware of is a 35 minute drive from home and 25 minutes from work, if traffic is minimal (and it rarely is). I wonder if I can convince my wife to move out into the country a bit...
