Yes, there's a piece underneath ;-) All my models are painted with acrylic paint for all the reasons Luke mentions. I thought I had already preached enough.

Is there one of those fillet (Guillows M1 pieces) under the area that connects from fuse to the wing? I would imagine that the filler would just fall down in that area without? Thanks

i like enamel because it doesn't dry as fast. what are the advantage of acrylics?
lukebozek1, Comment for image # 1465106 Aug 11 11:21
I tried enamel once, many years ago. Bad, very bad. Acrylics forever! Spray, brush it doesn't matter. Great results, fantastic color choices and it cleans up easy. Focus on the Easy part. Especially for the aroma.

Many folks use 50/50 white glue mix, some use a glue stick, I use dope. I don't use enamel for anything.
BriandKilby, Comment for image # 1465106 Aug 11 09:56
can you apply silkspan if you use diluted glue, cause i use enamel?
David Duckett, Comment for image # 1465106 Aug 11 09:40
At this point there are at least three coats of nitrate dope on the entire thing so there's much less chance of damaging the silkspan. Also, it's silkspan and is stronger than tissue. The blue tape has less "tack" than white masking tape so it doesn't stick to the surface as firmly.
BriandKilby, Comment for image # 1465106 Aug 11 09:24
is it posssible to mask on tissue, everytime i do it it rips a hole in the tissue when i pull the tape off. maybe it's a certain tape?

It's blue Scotch tape cut into strips.
lukebozek1, Comment for image # 1465105 Aug 11 10:11
Dave, is that black strip tape?

My approach to wing filets. This usually requires two applications and can be done with other fillers.

Awesome. One of my favorite A/C of all time done to a "T". Love it.

I heard that.

As my old maid Aunt might have said (but didn't) "Patience is a virtue". I spent all day making the prop but the actual carving and shaping probably takes less than an hour. Of course, the 17th, 18th, and 19th are always easier.
