Another masterpiece. Museum quality. How about a little face in a window? |

Those cannot be Guillows wheels....or are they? Nice, very nice! |

Thanks. Again, job well done. |

In this case all the letters and numbers are decals from various Guillows kits. The ones on the fuselage came from kit #902 Bird Dog, those on the wings are from kit #905 Mustang, and the small rescue under the cockpit window is from kit #904 Skyraider. The other red stripes and the white one on the wings came from the Italieri A 20 plastic kit which gave me the nosewheels for the B 29 and the tailwheel for the Typhoon. The two black circles on the wing are from the Guillows Corsair and the red dot was made from an extra British roundel and a hole punch. The black stripe above the windows is 1/8" striping tape made by Great Planes. Other black striping is done with Chartpak 1/64" and 1/32" tape. All decals were sprayed with clear acrylic " satin" spray. Oh, and yes the wing does just glue on. |

If I recall correctly, David does all his "marking" by hand, making stencils and painting them on.

Really like the detailing. Are the letter markings dry rub off or stenciled or what? Wing attachments, straight glue ups? Com'on give it up......... |

This is 1/8" PACTRA masking tape, sorta pricey but good. |
John M Oshust, Comment for image # 2766 | 22 Apr 07 20:50 |
Is that ordinary masking tape on the windows? |
David Duckett, Comment for image # 2781 | 22 Apr 07 14:30 |
This is paper from the kit. It's also a hint on how to cover curving tapered surfaces. |

Nice detail. What did you use for the exhaust gills? On the Zero I used very thin styrene. |

Rudder & elevators painted silver and detailed with 1/32" and 1/64" tape. |

The tape above the windows is temporary. |

A pencil line first then glue each small section at a time |

Actually, now that you have some time off, I'm really looking forward to seeing some photos of your first encounter with SGM Grade silkspan. I know what this looks like and the progress from here on will be small increments at a time and not nearly as interesting as what you're doing with that BUFF 24, ( BUFF is what the crews called them, Big Ugly Fat F...... ) Fellows. |
