what was a better plane, the c-47 or c-46?

Love that picture - used to watch these flying over in South London UK during the late 50's! Very different back-drop though!

...DC3 in the late 1950's (that was meant to say!)

David - I used to be laying listening for the DC3 mail plane that was due in at (our local) Croydon Aerodrome, now I ask James when the Virgin 747 passes over (Northern CA) at about 17.30 hours!

With a brush :-), it's black paint. The leading edge was masked first with Pactra masking tape.

Can I ask how you applied the black deicer to the leading edges?

He announced his arrival by flying directly over the house! I've put in several hours on these in the C-47 version. We took a C-47 from Bangkok to Da Nang returning from R & R in the spring of 1968. It was probably the smoothest flight I ever experienced.

Nothing like the sound of twin radials. I will dash out of the house like a six year old when I hear them flying over my house.

Wow, great shot David! What a cool thing to see in your front yard.
David Duckett, Image # 3014618 Nov 13 19:11

It flew four circuits right over the front yard at about 200'. Lovely sound!

Don't see this very often...

Interesting art. On a DC-3, Fuget about it.
David Duckett, Comment for image # 2837918 Jan 13 17:35
There were three artists involved in painting this but I was not invited:-(

DD? were you fully conscious when you painted the DC-3, or was it more of a waking sleep? :)

Which Electra is that, the piston engined one or the turboprop?
Xanadu, Comment for image # 1371126 Mar 12 19:39
Love that Electra........I am sure we can find plans somewhere.
julinick, Comment for image # 1371126 Mar 12 19:31
Your right about Buffalo. But they are now finding out that parts for the DC-3 are hard to come by these days. I wish I could find plans for their Lockheed Electra.
